Hair Extension Care
Here are some tips to get the most out of your seamless hair co extensions!
Shampoo & Conditioner
When choosing shampoo & conditioner that are extension friendly, choose ones that are sulfate and silicone free. Sulfates strip the natural oils from your hair causing the extensions to dry out. Also, choose moisture/hydration over repair/bonding.
Double shampoo the scalp, including in between rows. Condition the mids through ends.
Substitute your conditioner for a hair mask for added moisture.
Avoid purple shampoo. If using it on your natural, coat your extensions in a regular conditioner.
Avoid any acidic bonding products! They cause the band to deteriorate which leads to shedding.
Heat protectant
Heat protectant is so important, especially, when you have extensions. Use heat protectant/ leave in conditioner that protects up to 350-400 degrees before any type of heat styling.
Oil
Oil is one of the key factors to prolonging your extension life. Apply a light oil through the mids and ends of your hair DAILY to keep your extensions hydrated.
Avoid colored oils as they can discolor your hair.
Daily tips
Blow dry the top of the extensions to prevent moisture buildup
Brush from the ends upwards, holding the top of the weft
Brush your hair throughout the day
Sleep with your hair in a low braid or pony
Use a silk pillow case
Other tips
Avoid using any sunscreen besides mineral sunscreen.( Benzones) It will discolor your extensions & cannot be reversed.
When swimming, apply conditioner or a hair mask & put your hair in a braid.
When sun or bed tanning, cover your hair to avoid excess heat damage & fading.
When bed tanning use a UV resistant bonnet.
Excess heat at the top of your weft can deteriorate the band causing shedding
Use a shower filter if you don’t have soft water. Avoiding hard water is best for extensions.
Do not bleach extensions
Do not perm extensions
Please Note: Shedding & Lighter Shades
Due to the extra processing required to achieve lighter blonde shades, these colors may be slightly more delicate and prone to shedding compared to darker or dimensional shades. While some shedding is normal with any set of extensions, lighter tones may experience a bit
more over time.
